AAANND, let’s go for my appreciation post. Again. 

SO. Where do I begin to explain how Sherlock and John have one of the best relationships ever ?

First, the video it John’s POV, but slowly we discover that Sherlock kinda feel the same, so it’s all mixed up, but mostly Sherlock’s POV at the end.

I ship them. Or maybe not. AAAH I DON’T KNOW.  Sometimes I think that they are of course beyond friends (friendship can’t define their relation, neither bromance actually), but also beyond romantical love, so I just enjoy their relation without wanting more. But there is other times when I could explode of excitement because I want them to damn kiss and make babies (potentially impossible I know) because THEY ARE PERFECT. So I don’t know, I really don’t know. They are actually making me crazy. Well. I think I ship them. Yep. EVEN if I know that nothing will happen between them. I know it’s a hopeless ship. But I love to ship couple. YEAH I SHIP THEM OK.

This video is not about bromance, it’s about love in a romantical way in my mind. I’m not sure actually. I don’t even know how I feel MYSELF about them. All I’m sure of is that they will be the death of me. So I think you can watch it thinking that it’s just friendship, if you don’t ship them. BUT HOW COULD YOU NOT TO ? AAAAH I’M GOING THROUGH SO MANY EMOTIONS.

Let me tell you about Sherlock and John. I thought a lot about them. Let’s start from the very beginning. John is a broken man, back from war, traumatized and looking for something to do to stop feeling empty. Sherlock appears in his life and while John sees that this man is going to get him into troubles, it’s actually the reason that makes  him move in with Sherlock, because he wants to feel the excitment and the danger. Sherlock is exactly what he needs. That’s what I wanted to show at the beginning of the video. From Sherlock’s viewpoint, John is someone who could admire him, and he loves that, he doesn’t need someone to help, he needs someone to be impressed. I suspect Sherlock wants to fix John too, by kindness maybe, mostly because he loves to be superior. He manages to make John stop using his cane. However I think that beside the satisfaction of being susccesful at this mission, he is also truly glad for John, thing he probably never planned. Because he’s not as much heartless as he wants to make us believe. At least, when it comes to John. I actually think that Sherlock started to appreciate John long before John started to appreciate him. We could even say that in fact, it was John who was using Sherlock to bring him some adrenaline when Sherlock was finally only genuiely looking for a friend.

But this is only the beginning because the more they are together, the more they fit. It’s a bit simplified but Sherlock is the brain and John is the heart. They are like one perfect human being in two parts. They need each other, not only because they want to be admired or to live adventures. They need each other EVERYTIME. For everything they do, everything they think, they are totally co-dependant. I’m pretty sure that none of them can remember how they could possibly live without the other.

At first, they moved in together because they had no one else, but it’s the best thing that ever happened to both of them. It’s funny how it begins, because they are not friends but it’s all natural between them. The way they talk, the things they do together, like jump from roof to roof… Who does that with someone the day he meets him ? Who kills a man to save someone he barely met ? They just make everything instinctively. They don’t THINK about their relationship, it’s just the way it is. Spontaneous, natural, easy. In my opinion, the key moment is when they argue about the way Sherlock doesn’t give a damn to the people who could die (which is absolutely not true obviously). Because for once it’s not easy, they collide. And they figure out that what they have is deeper than they realized. That they can lose it, and that they really don’t want to. This consciousness of the greatness of their relation slowly grows up from this point. John keeps helping Sherlock even after that, they confront danger together, and of course, the pool scene is THE MOST IMPORTANT moment between them. I’ll come back to this.

As for the sexual tension, it begins like a kind of joke, when two men between 30 and 40 share a flat, well, you can wonder what is going on. But the ambiguity is not only for fun, there is REALLY something chemical between them. Just look at how much they stare at each other, like hypnotized. NOBODY does that with a stranger, nor with just a friend. Personnaly I don’t look at my friends like that… Seriously, during the « drugbust », do they REALLY needed to look SO LONG in the other’s eyes ? No. It’s more than just a Shut-up-now –I-can’t-believe-it-look, it’s incredibly intense.  

When Sherlock asks John to tell him what he deduces from the shoe, the look means SO MUCH MORE than -Are-you-serious-Yes-I-am.  It means : I F*CKING NEED YOU EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE, WHY DON’T YOU SEE IT ? And they are always so close to each other when they talk. Do they really need to ? Once again, no. So yeah they’re is a sexual/romantic tension between them, nobody can’t deny it.

And I also love how they are trying to make it work, to « deserve » the other. John tries to help Sherlock, to think like him, because he doesn’t want Sherlock to consider him as an « idiot ». And Sherlock is trying to be a friend, except that he doesn’t know how it works to have a friend, he sucks at human relationships. That’s so cute.  John is patient, he bare Sherlock’s behaviour, he always come back even if Sherlock acts like an ass. The same, Sherlock bare the fact that John is not as clever as him, which is something really hard to him.

Back to the pool scene. OH MY GOSH. So many things.

-  Threatening John is the ultimate weapon against Sherlock. Moriarty knows that. John is actually the only thing Sherlock cares about more than his work.

-Sherlock doesn’t want to play anymore when he sees that John’s life is in danger, the only thing he wants is to save him. Look at the anger and the fear on his face.

-  John is ready to die to allow Sherlock to escape. Look at how desperate he seems when his plan doesn’t work. He feels stupid and useless, it’s sooooo heartbreaking and cute.

- Sherlock shows real emotions for the first time. I’m pretty sure he’s shaking.

- They take the big decision to possibly die TOGETHER. I love the way Sherlock looks at John a long time before turning his gun to Moriarty, as if he was the last thing he wanted to see, as if he was the only thing in the world who can give him strengh at that precise moment.  

For me, this scene is more significative as for Sherlock’s feelings than for John’s. He is simply terrified at the idea of losing John, especially by his fault, thing that he didn’t know himself. He doesn’t control anything, the situation and his feelings. It’s the one and only moment we actually see what is lying beyond the brain. I don’t know what Moriarty means by « We both know it’s not quite true ». I hope it’s about John of course, but Moffat and Gatiss are the biggest trolls ever… We don’t know anything about Sherlock’s past, so… maybe Jim knows something we don’t know.

Anyway. To be brief. LOOK AT THIS CHEMISTRY. They are not only flatmates, they are SOULMATES. Call it as you want, friendship, bromance, love, for me no words exists that can describe what they have. Neither in the series or in the books and other adaptations. It’s so much more than friendship. They love each other. They are not sexually attracted by each other, but they are a couple, there’s no way someone could say the contrary. It’s not romantic, it’s not sexual, it’s… I don’t know, the only thing I know is that it’s one of the most beautiful relationships ever. Probably the best.

HOWEVER. Back to Sherlock : let’s not forget that I’m a shipper. I am a crazy fangirl who wants to see a kiss. Of course I want a kiss. I want a hug and a kiss. Even if it’s not serious, even if it’s a joke, whatever, a kiss would be highly appreciated. Definitely.

Please I don’t want any spoilers about series 2, especially about Irene Adler, I don’t know who is the actress and I DON’T WANT TO KNOW. I succeeded to avoid spoilers for now, I’d like to keep thngs that way. I love being surprised.

Though, it’s funny because I’m not sure I want to see the next series. I mean OF COURSE if I could, I’ll be watching it right now. But… Well, actually, I’m not even sure I will watch it immediatly when it will be aired. The moment of the first episode is going to be VERY crazy. You know, it’s like when you openned the last HP, or when you watched the last episode of a TV show you love. You know that when it will be finished, it will be FOREVER. I feel the same about Sherlock. It won’t be over, AT LEAST I HOPE NOT. But after only 3 weeks, the series 2 will be over. 3 weeks, after more than one year of waiting. It’s going to happen so fast, and I won’t have the time to realize  is it finally here that it will already be the end. And, I have to say that, I’m scared it won’t be as good as series 1. What if I’m disappointed ? There is no reason, because all the crew is so talented but WHAT IF. AndwhatitIreneisSherlock’sloveinterestIdon’twantthatit’ssopredictableboringdullnopleasedon’tdothisitwouldspoileverythingIdon’twanttohateIrenebutseriouslyIdon’tthinkIcouldcontainmyangerifsomethinghappensbetweenherandSherlock. That’s what worries me the much…  Well, wait and see… NO SPOILERS THANKS.

Clearly, there was never a better time for a bit of Martin and Benedict than now.
